Culture of Care

Pastoral Care first and foremost is care of the soul.  Soul care is care of the inner life of a person. The goal is the maturing of disciples who become more like Christ.  Two of the foundational metaphors for pastoral care is that of the Shepherd and Priest.

Application

Discuss the following questions:

  1. Pastoral care is the responsibility of the whole church.  What role can you play in caring and looking out for one another?
  2. What is the role and responsibility of those who provide pastoral care to others? How effective have you been in fulfilling this role?  What do you need to do to become more effective?
  3. What things have you put in place to care for your self so that you can care more effectively for others?
  4. Share how pastoral care from others has impacted your life.
