Lesson Summary for the Teacher
Jesus is alive, and He wants to be our friend forever.
Bible Reference:
JOHN 21:1-14
Story Focus: Jesus is alive, and He wants to be our friend forever. Then comes a crucial part of the Easter story for our preschoolers. Jesus’ friends are out in a boat and they look to the shore. Guess who they see? Jesus! He’s sitting on the beach cooking breakfast. They quickly join Him to eat, talk, and just be with their good friend, Jesus. This story of Jesus being with His friends on the beach helps solidify the idea that Jesus really did come back in preschool minds.

LEADER: “Hi, friends! Today we’re going to talk about what happened after Easter. Easter started out sad because Jesus died and was put in a tomb.
But did Jesus stay there? (Pause.)
“Nooo! Jesus came back, just like He said He would. Jesus is alive!
“Well, not long after that, some of Jesus’ friends were fishing. While they were fishing, they saw someone standing on the beach. Guess who it was!
“JESUS! Jesus was standing on the beach. Jesus is alive! And they were so excited to see Him. Show me your best excited face.
(Make an excited face with the children.)
“The excitement doesn’t stop there. Jesus told His friends to come have breakfast with Him.
“So they did! Jesus’ friends sat with Him around the fire where He was cooking some fish and bread. Jesus was alive. And He was sitting right there cooking fish! They were so happy to be with their good friend Jesus again. They knew that Jesus loved them and that He would always be their friend—for ever and ever!
“Jesus loves YOU, too! Jesus loves you so much, and He wants to be YOUR friend for ever and ever! How awesome is that? Jesus is alive and He wants to be your friend forever. Who is alive?”
