Unhindered

Senior Pastor Chee-Seng FAH, Sunday 18th March

Vision

To build disciples who represents Jesus to everyone, everywhere with everything

We live in a world today where there are many start ups, like Uber and Airbnb, that have managed to succeed and go global. However, there was a start up thousands of years ago, that began with a handful of ordinary people and now spread throughout the world because it was a movement of God. It was the birth of the church. Come join this series, as we get challenged to put aside our traditions, comforts, preferences and programs in order to follow the example of a disciple-making movement that relied upon the Holy Spirit and proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

Scripture

  1. Read Acts 21:10-14, 23:10-11, 28:16, 30-31

Observation

  • What do these passages tell us about God?
  • What do these passages tell us about you and your life?
  • What questions do you have around this passage?

Application

Luke finishes the book of Acts with the word ‘unhindered’ to highlight that nothing was able to prevent the mission of God moving forward and it will continue through the story of our lives. Ps Chee highlighted three obstacles from the passages and how the HS unhindered the obstacles in Paul’s life so that the mission of God could move forward:

  1. God’s People – unhindered with confidence (Acts 21:10-14)
  2. Difficult Circumstances – unhindered by interpretation (Acts 23:10-11)
  3. Limitation – unhindered with influence (Acts 28:16, 30-31)

Discuss one or more of the following relevant questions.

  • What are some of the obstacles that hinder God’s mission in your life? Can you identify with some of the obstacles identified above?
  • Ps Chee shared that the biggest hindrance to God’s mission is our forgetfulness that the Holy Spirit is the key actor in moving God’s mission forward in our lives. Discuss.
  • Give an example of how the Holy Spirit has intervened into your life to help you overcome an obstacle so that God’s mission can move unhindered in your life.

Ps Chee shared that oftentimes we ask God to get us out of difficult circumstances when we should be asking God how we can be a witness of Jesus through the difficult circumstance. What would it look like to be a witness for Jesus through your difficult circumstance?
