SERMON SUMMARY

This week Ps Greg shared how God still speaks and ministers to us in power even in the midst of our weakness. Using real life examples from his own experience his desire for us was to increase our hunger for a deeper relationship with God and a hunger to hear His voice. He also reminded us that it is ok not to be strong because God speaks and works in the midst of our weakness.

The two points of the message were taken from the experiences of the Corinthian church looking specifically at 1 Corinthians 2:1-5:

1. God still speaks and ministers to us in power today

2. God wants to work in us and through us even in our weakness

Discuss one or more of the following questions:

Read 1 Corinthians 2:1-5

1. The Corinthian church experienced the power of God and heard God in amazing ways. When you read such verses as 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 & 14:1-5 and heard Ps Greg share his experiences does it make you want to hunger to experience God in this way or do you struggle to believe that God still works in this way today? Share your thoughts with the Life Group.

2. Share some experiences when God spoke or ministered to you in the midst of your weakness. What are some practical ways that you have used to help you rely on God’s strength in times of weakness?

3. Discuss the quote from Gordon Fee, ‘The antidote for the abuse of spiritual gifts is not disuse but proper use’.

4. What is the purpose of ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:17-19)?

5. Describe how God has used your weakness or painful life experience to minister to others. What was the impact?

6. Listening to this week’s sermon, what spoke to you and why?

7. What is God asking you to put into action after this week’s sermon and discussion?
