SOAR Discussion Questions  |  12 January 2020

Time is often viewed as another resource that we get to control and use as we please. However, this is not what the Bbile tells us about time. Time is not just “another resource” because we have all been given a finite amount of time to steward, and it has only been given to us by a gracious God. With this in mind, how do we change how we view time, how we use time, and how God can use our lives with the time He has given us?

Scripture

Psalm 90:10-12, Psalm 39:4-5

Observation

  • What do these passages tell us about God?

  • What do these passages tell us about you and your life?

Application

In order for our lives to reflect God’s values we first need to understand how God views life, and in this case, time. Then we need to align our understanding of time to match God’s. What follows should then be a life that shows that we know our time is finite, our time on Earth is a gift, and that we are to be stewards of time rather than thinking we are owners of our time.

Discuss one or more of the following questions.

  1. In his message, Ps Chee shared three practical applications/questions, with the first being: “God controls time, so I will….” (read Job 12:10).
  2. “God gives me time, so I will…” (read Ephesians 5:15-17)
  3. “God created days and seasons, so I will…” (read Genesis 1:14)

    Response

    • Is there a truth that God wants you to obey?
    • What will you do to obey this? I will…
    • Who can you share this with?
